Accountability<\/strong>: We are accountable to each other, our community, and those we serve.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Agronomist will lead technical support, training, and capacity-building for farmer groups engaged in<br \/>\ngroundnut production under the nutrition improvement project. The role focuses on promoting climate-smart<br \/>\nagricultural practices, enhancing yields, ensuring high-quality post-harvest handling, and integrating production<br \/>\ninto a community-based value chain that supports both nutritional outcomes and potential income generation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A. Farmer Capacity Building-25%<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>. Train and mentor farmer groups on groundnut agronomy, from land preparation to harvesting.<br \/>\n. Provide step-by-step training modules covering:<\/p>\n<p>o Land preparation &amp; soil fertility management.<br \/>\no Seed selection &amp; planting techniques.<br \/>\no Pest and disease identification &amp; management.<br \/>\no Irrigation and water conservation practices.<br \/>\no Harvesting, drying, shelling, and storage.<\/p>\n<p>. Incorporate nutrition-sensitive agriculture messages, emphasizing the role of groundnuts in improving<br \/>\ncommunity nutrition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>B. Technical Guidance &amp; Field Support-15%<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>. Conduct regular field visits to provide hands-on technical assistance.<br \/>\n. Demonstrate improved agricultural practices through demo plots.<br \/>\n. Monitor crop growth, identify challenges, and recommend corrective actions.<br \/>\n.Introduce sustainable farming methods (e.g., organic soil enrichment, integrated pest management).<\/p>\n<p><strong>C. Value Chain Development-15%<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>. Support post-harvest handling, processing, and quality control for peanut butter production.<br \/>\n. Work with the marketing team to connect farmer produce to processing facilities and potential<br \/>\nmarkets.<br \/>\n. Guide quality standards for both local consumption and potential income generation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>D. Data Collection &amp; Reporting-30%<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>. Collect baseline and progress data on yields, quality, and farmer adoption rates.<br \/>\n. Maintain accurate records of farmer trainings, farm visits, and production data.<br \/>\n. Contribute to monthly and quarterly project reports for donors and management.<\/p>\n<p><strong>E. Collaboration &amp; Partnerships-15%<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>. Coordinate with nutrition, livelihood, and monitoring teams for integrated project delivery.<br \/>\n. Liaise with local agricultural extension officers and relevant government bodies.<br \/>\n.
